Our work

Electrical engineering for Hawaiʻi’s water, wastewater, infrastructure, and institutional projects.

From early planning through construction support, KOA works with public agencies, institutions, and engineering partners to deliver coordinated electrical solutions that help move projects forward.

Water & Wastewater

Electrical engineering for well and booster pumping stations, wastewater pumping stations and treatment plants, motor controls, SCADA, instrumentation, emergency/standby power, and related infrastructure.

Well Pumping Station

Selected Projects

A few examples of how KOA supports clients across our core markets.

Water Pumping Station

Maui, Hawaiʻi

This station supplies water for Maui communities, and the electrical system has to keep the well and booster pumps available through normal operation and an outage. KOA designed the new power distribution, motor controls, and standby generator and coordinated them with the existing pumping equipment. Replacing the existing electrical equipment while keeping the station in operation during construction was the main design challenge.

New Office and Warehouse

Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

A new office and warehouse on Oʻahu needed one electrical design that could serve two very different uses under the same roof. KOA designed the power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and coordinated the work with the rest of the design team. Office and warehouse loads, lighting levels, and future flexibility all had to be resolved in a single set of drawings.

Transformer Replacement

Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

An existing transformer serving an Oʻahu educational facility had reached the point of replacement, and the load it served still needed a clear path to stay powered during the replacement. KOA designed the transformer replacement and designed the temporary electrical work required to keep the campus load operational during construction. KOA worked with campus facilities personnel to come up with a solution that worked for them and their operations.
